Thanks to all who helped me to get the Vivanco WLAN USBadaptor working.I am happy to report that it works perfectly with Ubuntu 7.04.You can now buy one from ALDI, safe in the knowledgethat it will work. They may be sold out by now, but mysummer holidays got in the way of my investigation...If you want to follow in my footsteps, I used NDISWRAPPERas described ini-eat-noobs.blogspot.com/2007/08/get-wireless-working-in-ubuntu-704.htmlSome things to note...1. The drivers are available from the Vivanco CD. I used the onesin the XP directory. Copy all files beginning with SIS.2. The driver developers were careless with capital lettersbecause this is not relevant in a Windows environment. The.INF file must be renamed to sis163u.inf (all lowercase). Theother filenames should not be changed.3. The instruction forgets the last step of adding the newdevice to IP routing tables...sudo route add default wlan0(you may need something more complex in your network)4. The instruction refers to enabling roaming mode. Thiswas not needed in my case.Good luck...BredPS. My next challenge is to get it working on a Debian Slug. If
anybody is interested, please mail me.
