	Hi,

	Just as in Windows - to eject a USB device safely you must tell the OS
that you are about to remove it. In Ubuntu, you right click the mounted
device on your desktop (or in a Nautilus window) and select Eject. This
performs a sync and umount, allowing you to safely remove the device.

	As an interesting side-note, I find this far superior to Window's
implementation of same, since under Windows I appear to have to
(optionally) right click the device and eject (same as Ubuntu, thus far)
but this appears to largely have no effect. To actually safely eject the
device, Windows requires me to find the removable devices icon in the
task tray (taking two clicks usually since Windows helpfully auto-hides
it) and click it - bringing up a dialog of all the removable devices
connected to my machine, select the USB drive, click 'Remove' (or some
such button), confirm that I do wish to stop it and any devices hung off
it, and then close down all the useful dialog windows opened during the
preceeding steps.

	I know which I find more intuitive, quick and convenient.

	Best regards,
	-->Gar
