We have fairly standard Linux email setup here using exim/courier.
I can read emails on my SE K800 phone using imap client over SSL and
it's usable, although not perfect and still a bit geeky (for example,
deleted emails remain in inbox).
Some others here would like occasional access to their email over phone,
but it needs to be fairly easy to use. New phones and/or cheap-ish
subscription services are OK, but changing our mail server is not.
We use O2 for all voice, and don't have data tariffs on phones yet.

This Vodafone option mentioned above by Thomas doesn't sound great.
Any suggestions for easy to use email access with open protocols? A
phone with a good IMAP client would be a start.
