Don't feed the troll little padowan. Slackware being my first distro,
I have to answer that one. Whilst you might have stayed under the
opinion that slackware is monolithic and can be found only under your
grandma's bed, there are more recent tools which were created to help
out in installing unofficial yet maintained software. One of these is
swaret (http://swaret.sourceforge.net/).

Far from me to defend slackware as THE most obvious choice on a
workstation but slackware ain't half bad, that's just another linux
after all ...
