[ILUG] Xircom PCMCIA card and Ubuntu Server 6.0.6

Good evening, good evening,

 

I was hoping that one (or more) of you out there could help me.

 

I've got a pretty old laptop that was doing nothing so I thought that I
would wang Linux onto it and use it for testing purposes.

 

The problem I'm having is that when I was installing the OS it had no
problem picking up an IP address from DHCP, the Xircom card I have installed
was detected and all was going well . happy days (or so I thought)

 

When I rebooted the machine and checked my IP address it had reverted back
to 127.0.0.1

 

I've been doing some Googling but so far nothing has turned up any results.

 

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
