[ILUG] Switch off - leave on?

Does that include hard disks?
You must be very lucky.
Also surely you have had power outages in the last 5 years?
I think we average just under one per year.
I have been running my Asus desktop for 7 years,
but in that time it has had several serious illnesses,
the worst being when it lost its SCSI BIOS.
But it has had several disk failures.
In fact I am seriously thinking of getting a new desktop,
though I have no real reason to.
My experience is that SCSI is much more reliable than anything else,
but you youngsters don't seem to use SCSI any more.
(SCSI disks always tell me politely that they are not feeling well.)
In fact I was thinking of asking ILUG's advice
on a new desktop as reliable as my old one.
