[ILUG] Followup 2: Naive ADSL/WiFi questions [ almost no response from the unit in a local test!? ]

 I previously noted the Hitachi/Tecom AH4021 ADSL
WiFi router apparently ran Linux and netfilter.

this seems Ok: one of the paper docs which came
with the unit is GPL v2, and also lists URLs for
the source (and GPL). the quibble is the source
 URLs are for kernel.org and netfilter.org (i.e.,
baseline source and not necessarily the specific
source for what the box is running?).

amusingly, the unit is running a more up-to-date
Linux than my PC is! as supplied, it's running:

    # cat proc/version
Linux version 2.6.8.1 (root at hp) (gcc version 3.4.2) #1 Fri May 26 09:11:32 CST 2006
    #

whilst I'm still on 2.6.4 or so! ;-\

it's trivial to get a (root!) shell on the box.
listing files is a pain (no `ls', so `echo *').

does anyone happen to recognise the CPU?:

    # cat proc/cpuinfo
    system type : 96348GW
    processor : 0
    cpu model : BCM6348 V0.7
    BogoMIPS : 253.44
    wait instruction : no
    microsecond timers : yes
    tlb_entries : 32
    extra interrupt vector : yes
    hardware watchpoint : no
    VCED exceptions : not available
    VCEI exceptions : not available
    #

anyways, the ADSL is supposedly now activated
on the line, so now it's time to see if I can
get that to work ... oh joys, oh bletches! ;-\

cheers!
