 as far as I know rechargeable batteries are available
 (I've never had to buy any).
 my (vague!) memory is some first generation DECT handsets
 were not necessarily rechargeable.
 when I was eyeballing a few units the other day it wasn't
 always clear.
 to be more accurate, the requirement is the handset must
 _recharge_ when docked in the basestation.

 as per above, I have _vague_ recollections of some early
 units being “insane”, and also am not too sure about some
 of the units I eyeballed in-shop the other day (so is why
 I mentioned the point).
