[ILUG] slideshow with voice

I'm looking for an application which ideally works as follows
The application will play a photo slideshow from a folder full of images 
stepping through the files every time a key is pressed. Each time the 
key is pressed to move to the next slide, a sound recording via the mic 
input will be started (so a person can talk about the image) and the 
sound recording will be somehow associated with the file (example 
pic1.jpg makes pic1.mp3), the recording stops/starts when you hit a key 
and move on to the next slide..etc...
The result can then somehow be played back as a combined audio+pic 
slideshow.
I don't want an application which needs to be pre-configured per photo 
slide (like powerpoint would), it must be as simple as dropping a 
collection of photo's into the folder.

Does anyone know of similar or some linux trickery I could use ?
