[ILUG] Ram swap

 I'm currently 3:1 (swap:RAM). Why 3:1?

Because I've followed the c.2:1 advice since the early 80's
(on Unix), and as a matter of habit, set aside that much
space unless I don't have that much space. I started with
one HDD, and 512MiB RAM, so set aside 1GiB swap. Then I
got a second HDD, on which I installed a different distro,
upgraded memory to 1GiB, so set aside 2GiB swap. Both swap
 areas are configured/available, so I have 1+2=3:1 swap:RAM.

And how much of that space am I actually using? At last
check, c.200KiB, which is actually more than usual (looks
 like I've got a bloated FireFox ;-\ ). Am I short of
space on either HDD? No. I can afford to set aside that
 much. It's not an issue.

cheers!
