Lots of machines don't have serial ports these days but -- apparently due
to the proliferation of hookie cable-tv boxes -- Peats and Maplins on
Parnell Street, Dublin seem to keep a stock of usb-serial adaptors if you
need one.  Last time I bought one, the shop clerk was surprised to hear
that I wanted one for entirely legal purposes.
