Try Xnest. Or, with more recent versions of gnome, try the 
"gdmflexiserver".

Should be a non-fatal error. However OpenGL will be much slower for 
the second user. That's inherent to DRI really.

You can also try running multiple X-servers - again recent GNOME 
includes a thingy for this ("add to panel.." -> User Switcher).
