Hmm, per GB I have to agree that HDD's rule. Given the cost of a 500GB  
disk these days, and the cost of an external USB/firewire chassis  
being tuppence....
But tapes are great for long term storage, but per GB, HDD's will  
always win.

Especially when you factor in the cost of a decent Tape unit.
Check out dell's prices for an idea... they get very expensive for  
larger/faster devices.

Tape are relatively cheap, but nothing like HDD prices for commodity h/
