Hey Christian,

Please take the information below with a grain of salt as I've never
done a PhD and there are probably others on this list who would be in
a far better position to advise :)

The general consensus about PhDs seems to be that they are useful if
you'd like to pursue a career in academia, or heading up research
departments of large companies for example. Doing a PhD isn't
something you should undertake lightly, you'd have to determine if
your interested in the subject matter and are willing to devote a
*lot* of time to it.
