Looking at the man page -- coz I have never tried this :

rpm -e --allmatches packagename
//should// remove all references of it.

I only ever install them, never tried removing them -- never had the  
need ;-0

Under RHEL on x86_64/EM64T, you can use
up2date --arch=i386 packagename

Some apps require 32-bit rpm's to be installed along side their 64bit  
versions.
Works fine.
