I ended up going with the Netgear WG311T (PCI):
As the link above says, Madwifi support is good and encryption works
out of the box. There was no trouble getting it working with Ubuntu
(gutsy), after enabling the restricted modules*
*Note: While it seems the madwifi drivers are open source, they do
have a dependency on a proprietary hardware abstraction layer - hence
the restricted modules classification.
