Really for a once off, you're best getting somebody with experience
to do this, and do your best to verify that they really do have the
experience and the knowledge. A friend of mine recently had a major
extension done on his house, and decided that he'd get Cat6 cabling
installed throughout, but unfortunately he wasn't specific enough
about what he wanted. He has dual socket faceplates installed all
over the place, but instead of there being twin Cat-6 cables to RJ-45
sockets (which is what he wanted, but sadly didn't PRECISELY specify)
the electrician installed ONE Cat-6 cable and split it between two
RJ-61 sockets. And to boot, he didn't label anything :-(
So, know what you want, and make sure your contractor does too.

Others have told you, but a better question may be "Do you really
