I hate GNOME and don't use it, but I still use gnome-terminal, because
it is the best at i18n, in my experience.

I regularly have to type English, Japanese, and Bulgarian / Russian
into my terminal, and occasionally have to type German and French, and
regularly have to read all these languages in all the various encoding
permutations (e.g. ISO-2022-JP, Shit_JIS, EUC_JP, UTF8, Latin-1,
KOI8-R, ad nauseum), and gnome-terminal + SCIM Just Works.

I have long been meaning to look into Sakura[1], which is reported to
have all of g-t's i18n goodness without the GNOME stoopidities.
Actually, I just assigned the new ebuild bug[2] to myself in Gentoo's
Bugzilla, so now I have the proverbial fire lit under my tender bits.
