She isn't knowledgeable either, that's the thing. She is going to learn what ever she eventually goes with. She has never owned an apple and played with final cut pro a total of a few times. So its like a blank canvas.....

My own vague recollection is that the preferred platform for this sort
of thing is the Apple platform.

Unless you are reasonably knowledgeable about video editing software
on Linux (and I think it is reasonable to assume from the fact you're
asking the question that you're not) my suggestion is you recommend
she buy a Mac.
