[ILUG] Mail Server from Home (Gmail <-->Home MailServer<-->Home Boxes)

Is the subject line a possibility, or even doable.
Looking at this for summer 09.


Getting all mail from gmail,
fetch on local mail-server, and send to various home boxes as necessary.
and send out the same method.
Without becoming a spam box myself.

Would fedora fit for this, or a longer term solution debian? 

Can all the mail, I want to keep be archived on said box,
as a number of lists, don't have on-line archives.
