[ILUG] Help Needed New to Linux

Thanks Gavin for the prompt response. Yes I do believe it is Suse Linux.
So I may venture into a store at some stage with it for advice.

I have had a terrible experience with laptopsdirect, firstly my order
arrived 1 month late - in the wrong colour to boot, I requested white
received black, but decided to keep for fear it would take another month
on return process. Then when I requested information via email and phone
no one returned to me when sanctioned they would. I further called for
assistance and they told me to call the manufacturer directly or fill
out the returns form!

All and all my experience thus far has been exhausting - a member of the
Lenovo tech team advised me to contact the 'Government' (as if they
haven't enough to contend with at the moment) - for fear of a monoply
between Vodafone and 3G not supplying broadband wireless to Linux. Can
you understand my frustration now!

Those look rather nice!

That's what they tend to say (in order that they don't need to help
you), but actually 3G connections work pretty well with Ubuntu Linux and
I presume most others (Ubuntu is the only one I've tried). As far as I
can tell, they've probably given you Suse linux. Does that sound right
or can you tell?

It's certainly something that can be done so don't give up hope. You
might just need someone with Suse knowledge to assist a little. If it
came to it, installing ubuntu on it would likely be quite
straightforward and that should definitely work with 3G but that's
probably not necessary.

Did you ask laptops.ie for advice? Did they refuse? That's a bit
rough.
