	Hi Sheila,

I have recently been testing an O2 E220 dongle (white oval shaped USB type 3G
modem.)

I'm very pleased to say that under Ubuntu 8.10 (latest version) it's as
simple as plugging it in, waiting a couple of seconds for it to be detected,
and clicking the appropriate option in the window displayed, asking you if
it's a contract or pay-as-you-go type. It also gives you the option to give
this connection a name you will recognise later. I call mine 'O2-E220'.

After this 30 second setup procedure, only required the first time you plug
the modem into the laptop, clicking on the network icon will display a list of
any wireless networks in range, and also under 'Mobile Broadband' it will have
an entry called 'O2-E220' (or whatever name you assigned.) Click and you'll
see your laptop connect over the 3G modem within a second or so.

I've tested multiple laptops with Ubuntu 8.10 and an eeePC with Easy Peasy
(based on Ubuntu 8.10) all with similar good experiences. I imagine a recent
version of SuSE will be as good, but I've not tested.

In summary, 3G certainly works - and works well - under Linux. Don't let
anyone try and tell you otherwise :)

	Hope that helps.

	Best regards,
	-->Gar
