[ILUG] Sharing files over the web

If you're sharing files you're probably going to need some sort of
versioning system, otherwise you're going to end up with a mess when person
A overwrites person B's documents and there's no backup. If you're trying to
avoid Google Docs then at the very least you should look into something like
SVN, CVS, GIT or something similar.

But really as a few people have mentioned before the best solution for the
basic requirements you've mentioned is Google Docs. In fact it's even
available through Google Apps, which allows for a lot more flexibility,
including increased storage capacity (for a price) if you want it....here's
