Seconded, I know a guy who switched over a year ago and is much happier
than ever with Smart than BT. Never used them myself I must stress though.
I am with Digiweb 'Metro' which is sort of hybrid RF/Cable service.
The copper in my area is really poor, so poor in fact that 700-900kb/s
seems to be the limit for any DSL connection. A 3g stick
averages around 60kb/s here and has a 500+ ms ping :)
I can only remember about 2 or 3 occasions of downtime over the last 2 or
3 years. Pings are pretty good for a wireless service( 40ish to UK servers).
They seem to allocate fixed IP's for your WAN interface as well.
Don't know if this is standard, but mine has not changed since the start.
Don't bother with Eircom if you can get this service in your area !!!
