But if you read down the man page, day 0 is sunday, so there is agreement
between "cron" and "date". This is a relief as I know cron when used for
emails "charset=" will default to locale.

"%u     day of week (1..7); 1 is Monday"

or more altenatively:

"%w     day of week (0..6); 0 is Sunday"

So there is some consistency in day of the week and cron. Mind you day 1
is Monday and day 0 is Sunday seems to be pretty universally agreed. Which
is first is up to you.
