[ILUG] ADSL ethernet or wifi?

I have a fairly old Eircom-supplied ADSL modem,
which only has an ethernet connection.
This goes to my main computer,
where I run shorewall under CentOS-5.3.

I notice that most people seem to have WiFi ADSL modems now.
It seems to me slightly safer to run everything through one computer.
I know one could set up a firewall on a router
(I have a Linksys WRT54GL running dd-wrt)
but I'm not sure how reliable that would be,
or more importantly, how complicated to implement.

I wonder what the gurus think?
