I know it's perhaps a bit off topic but I too am a non programmer, I
don't even think like one ;-)
I have been following the MIT open courseware
6.00 Introduction to Computer Science and Programming
this is python based hence off topic
thanks to MIT's open courseware all the lectures and materials are free
and on line, MIT seem to put most of their courses on line under
creative commons licensing so it's a good starting place for all sorts
they also have the materials from a C course up too which I might take a
look at someday if I manage to make sense of python
