If you have all the features you need and things are working, if it
ain't broke, don't (try to) fix it :) You'll still get security updates
until 2013 as you said yourself.
If however you want to upgrade some of the software packages, access
new features or avail of some new packages that are not available for
8.04, then go for it. I've found 10.04 on servers reasonably
trouble-free and the HEAnet standard build is now based on 10.04.
