Scrap the comment about 50% cpu - doesn't seem to be happening this
morning after a fresh restart. Has already crashed once today.

I have a small network where all the clients run Ubuntu Maverick. They
all run fine apart from one computer that, about once or twice a day,
just freezes. The mouse still moves around but you can't click on
anything and the keyboard does not respond.
I recently changed the graphics driver from nvidia to nouveau but still
the same problem. The hard drive looks OK - no smart warnings, memcheck
seems OK and the processor is quite cool. The graphics card is quite
warm - about 50C and one of the cpu cores seems to run about 50% even
when nothing is happening and gdm has stopped.
Any ideas or should I dump it and install Debian, which is long term
