Greetings all
I had hoped by now that I'd get mailing around a rundown of meeting#3, so I
hope to get to that over the weekend.
I think given the makeup of the group that we run the serious risk of holding
two-tier meetings that will benefit few, unless we make a couple of changes
that accomodate the different levels of familiarity that our members have
with Linux. I've had some feedback to this effect already, and I'm glad of
it, because I think this is the way we need to go myself.
The suggestion is that we run a monthly "newbie night" -for example on the
last Friday of each month. This would be for anyone intending to take things
from the top. A few geeks would be needed to accomodate newbie's transition
and provide help.
The geek nights (seeing as most of the geeks are fairly local) could be held
maybe each third month (instead of the newbie nights), or alternating between
the newbie nights every two months (or so... depending on what suits people).
I think something along those lines would make sure that all members benefit
from our meetings, after all -that's the whole point, isn't it?
That would mean the next night would be a newbie night (bit late in the month
to advertise it at this stage probably) so possibly we could set a date in
around a fortnight or so and then make regular arrangements from there
depending on the consensus.
Any thoughts ?
Mel
