[Midlands] how do I update my RH 9 since it's no longer supported?

Hi Catherine,

You are better off changing distribution than having to manually compile
and package software and manage everything yourself.

If your vendor only support redhat you could install CentOS which is a
FREE recompiled version of RH Enterprise Linux.

Personally I'd switch to something that is more FREE and supported like
Ubuntu or Debian.

They both have the same package manager and both are execllent
distributions. Ubuntu is great on a desktop or laptop and very easy to
install. I prefer Debian on a server myself but Ubuntu can do the very
same.
