Ahem A.I.B. charge the same regardless... and seeing that the current
charges
on ma A/C are 23 quid for this quarter... and assuming that I keep the same
number of transactions this year (which really wasn't all that many) It'll
be
another 92 quid they get out of me... I'm getting even more annoyed now..

Yeah, I've been noticing the same myself. Its a bit crazy and while I could
understand paying for an ATM service (though obviously not as steeply) I
can't understand the charges on electronic transactions like Direct Debits -
especially since the average inter-bank transaction takes 4 days. I mean
its electronic for god's sake. As Proinsias said, they've got the money for
a certain while to make money for themselves so I can only conclude that
they're charging me for the privilege of making them money! The best one
I've heard is the story of a lady who rang up her NIB branch to query the
balance of her account. When she got a statement later on, she found out
that NIB had charged her 6 quid for the query. She then rang up to query
the £6 charge and got charged a further £7.20 for that call. The bank
'graciously' decided to waive their admisitration charge and she didn't have
to pay the £7.20 I think thats really taking the piss. Something should
be done about them.
