Just to say that you presented a very one sided view of PERL as a language for
large scale projects (that is the view that PERL Conference goers would hold).
Although I do not doubt that PERL can be used for such projects, I do doubt
that it is a good language for such things, and that the people who go to
these conferences probably think it's the bees knees because the last project
they had to do was in C
