Why is this not surprising ?

With all due respect to the taxi driver (ah fsck it - no - there's no
respect due to them) what he has is NTL's basic package which provides two
telephone lines (I'm given to understand that it presents as ISDN), the
basic TV channels package and unlimited Internet access via a modem
connected to one of the phone lines, with a cap of two hours on a connection
i.e. after you've been connected for two hours, you're dumped. You can
connect again immediately, of course, but that's not going to help with your
FTP D/L of something.iso.

This package costs £20/month. If you want a cable modem, which is a whole
different ball game, the projected cost was £50/month (just for that)
although I don't know if anyone ever actually got a cable modem from NTL.

Niall
