 Thing is that it's also higher. That means colder evenings. I was in Utah
last month, camping. 35C in the day, dropping to -12C at night. 

 And, of course muppet here thought "Desert. That means light sleeping
bag". Shudder. You know it's cold when you have to wipe ice out of your
beard when you wake.

 I'd be more worried about frost killing off the plants, than just not
having much fruit.
