Be fair here - you don't know what his application does, so how can you
judge whether or not his applications should not require sixteen queries to
generate a page. I have pages which require 5 queries to generate. I have
other pages which require multiple queries because MySQL doesn't support
subselects so I have to program my way around that with multiple selects.

I haven't read the piece mentioned yet, although I hope to later. Like many
people here, I'm considering switching from MySQL to Postgres because MySQL,
much as I like it for its speed and simplicity, has too many little niggly
bits, and I'd be very interested in reading other people's views.
